Here you can see another place where the snow has become packed under a passenger car in the train. While inside this heated car shop, the snow will melt pretty quickly off the undercarriage of the train and the heaters help it melt even faster from more critical areas.
The photos in this slide show were taken in the mid-1990's by Steve Grande on his Amtrak travels throughout the nation. The size of the photos is purposely smaller as disk space was expensive and download speeds were slower at that time.
