This is the service road that runs along the tracks between the Chicago Amtrak station and the 14th Street Car Shop. Standing in the cold air wasn't bad, but riding in the open cart down this service road really put the "wind chill factor" into play!
The photos in this slide show were taken in the mid-1990's by Steve Grande on his Amtrak travels throughout the nation. The size of the photos is purposely smaller as disk space was expensive and download speeds were slower at that time.
