The bill introduced in the Senate by William Roth (R-DE) yesterday to
create a capital trust fund for Amtrak is known as S-436.
I strongly urge you to write/call your U.S. Senators and ask them to support
this measure. This funding is critical for Amtrak's survival!

H.CON.RES.43, Sponsored by Rep B. Franks (NJ), (introduced
03/11/97): A concurrent resolution expressing the sense of
Congress that the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency
Act of 1991 should not be radically overhauled, and for other
purposes.
Section(8) of the resolution states:
"a dedicated source of funding for Amtrak, and legislation to
substantially reform Amtrak, should be included in the law to
reauthorize the Intermodal Surface Transportation Act of 1991;"
