Travelogue of Michael Hansen's Trips on Metra

Hear is the first travelogue of my first part of my trip on Metra on June twentieth.

Its about 11:05 AM, on Friday, june twentieth, 2003, and I've just arived at the Big Timber station, ware I will be boarding Metra train number 2234, to Chicago. We left at 10:35, and arived at the station at 11:05 AM.

I wanted to get the locomotive numbers, so we walked down the platform up to the engine. Todays Metra train 2234 is pushed by F40PH engine number 106. Interestingly, this engine is the first in the F40PH fleet to be used on this line. We found seets, and to my surprise, the front of the train was closed off, but the back wasn't. Mom and I sat across from each other, my seet beeing with in reaching distance of the door, which leeds outside to th elocomotive.

We departed at 11:22 AM, and made stops at Elgin, National street, Bartlot, Hanover Park, Shawnburg, and Roselle, ware we arived at 12:50 PM, and left less then a minute later. This trip was flying by to fast! We arived at madina at 11:52 AM, and left less then a minute later.

We arived at itaska at 11:56 AM, and left less then a minuet later. We arived at Wooddale at 11:59 AM, and left at noon. We made a station stop at 12:03 PM, and left less then a minute later, but I wasn't able to find out ware we were. We stopped at Franklon Park at 12:10 PM, and left less then a minute later. We stopped at River Grove at 12:13 PM, PM, and left a minute later at 12:14 PM. We stopped at Elmwood Park at 12:16 PM, and left a minute later at 12:17 PM. We stopped at Mont Clare at 12:19 PM, and left less then a minute later.

We made our next stop at Galewood at 12:21 PM, and left a minute later at 12:22 PM.

On our way to our stop at Western Ave, wile passing throughtthe Metra yards, Mom said that she saw a new locomotive, wich I prosume to be an MP36PH-3. We arived at Western AVE at 12:30 PM, and left less then a minute later. Now it was on to Chicago Union station, ware we arived at 12:39 PM, 3 minutes early.

My trip on Metra went very nicely, I had comfortable seets, and I could hear thhe locomotive! I'm very much looking forward to my return trip on the 4:50 PM train to Elgin!
