SUGGESTED TRAVEL ITINERARIES TO
TRAINWEB's 10th ANNIVERSARY & GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION

IN LA PLATA, MISSOURI!
TRAVEL FROM SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TO LA PLATA, MISSOURI:
There are a number of people that will be going from Southern California to La Plata, Missouri, to attend TrainWeb's 10th Anniversary Celebration & Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of our new building. Some plan to spend the entire Friday through Sunday weekend, December 8 - 10, 2006, in La Plata. Others plan to arrive Saturday morning, December 9, 2006, spend just that one day at the event, and then depart that same evening. If you would like to travel on the same train with either of these groups, here are their plans:
WEEKEND IN LA PLATA, Friday through Sunday, Dec 8 - 10, 2006:
On Wednesday, December 6, 2006, there is going to be a small TrainWeb 10th Anniversary Party at The Rail Restaurant in Fullerton from 5pm to 7pm. There will be free food, beverages and anniversary cake served! At the end of the party, we will walk across the parking lot to the Fullerton Amtrak Station with those that are departing on the eastbound Amtrak Southwest Chief at 7:20 PM. The people departing on this train will arrive into La Plata on Friday morning, December 8, 2006, at 9:57 AM. They will be greeted by the staff of either TrainWeb or The Depot Inn and driven over to the hotel.
On Sunday, December 10, 2006, these people will depart from La Plata on the westbound Amtrak Southwest Chief at 8:06 PM. They will arrive back into Fullerton on Tuesday morning, December 12, 2006, at 6:34 AM.
ONE DAY IN LA PLATA, Saturday, Dec 9, 2006:
On Thursday, December 7, 2006, some people will be departing from Los Angeles and others from Fullerton heading for La Plata on the eastbound Amtrak Southwest Chief. This train departs from Los Angeles at 6:45 PM and from Fullerton at 7:20 PM. The train will arrive into La Plata on Saturday morning, Dec. 9, 2006, at 9:57 AM. The passengers on this train will be greeted either by the staff of TrainWeb or The Depot Inn and driven over to the hotel. We have set aside a couple of rooms where you will have free use of the showers if you wish to freshen up before heading over to the celebration at the new TrainWeb building. Free transportation will be provided between the hotel and the TrainWeb building.
At the end of the day, transportation will be provided to the La Plata Amtrak Station for those that need to catch the westbound Amtrak Southwest Chief at 8:06 PM.
YOUR CHOICE!
We recommend that you select one of these itineraries for your travel plans from Southern California to La Plata, Missouri. However, a combination of these two plans or other travel dates can also be selected. Some people will instead be flying most of the way to or from La Plata. Midwest Airlines, the all first class airline, offers direct non-stop discount fares between Los Angeles and Kansas City for about the same cost as Amtrak's Reserved Coach round trip fare. Unfortunately, you may then need to rent a car for the remaining 3 hour drive from Kansas City to La Plata. If you plan to fly into Kansas City on Friday and fly out of Kansas City on Sunday, send e-mail to me at steve@trainweb.com . If a number of people plan to do this, we may rent a full size van and be able to provide free ground transportation to those of you that select this option.
There is also local commuter airline service into Kirksville, just 13 miles from La Plata. If you can schedule your flight into and out of Kirksville, we will attempt to arrange free ground transportation for you.
DEPOT INN RESERVATIONS
We have only set aside a few rooms for this event and they are going fast! If you will be staying overnight, please contact the Depot Inn directly by calling 888-814-3669 toll free. The rate should be $89 less the 10% TrainWeb Discount or about $80 per night.
